Mayor Mamdani broke his promise to end the budget dance. His May 12th Executive Budget proposal was $97 million short of his promise to public fund libraries at 0.5% of the city’s expense budget. But the fight isn’t over!

Join NYC PLAN and comrades on the steps of City Hall from 10:30-11:30am on Tuesday, May 26th to rally for public library funding. We’ll have a lineup of speakers including members of NYC PLAN, library union locals, Urban Librarians Unite, and more. Open the rally address in Google Maps.

This rally is happening ahead of the City Council’s Executive Budget hearings for Cultural Affairs, Libraries and International Relations, which begins at 12:00pm this same day.

Also, for your information: we’re encouraging people to sign up to testify as well, the public hearing is being held on a separate day from the officials hearing, and our rally. That public hearing is being held on Wednesday, June 10th. Read NYC PLAN’s guide for a how-to: Testify on June 10 to Support NY Public Libraries.
