A People’s Assembly (PA) is a facilitated gathering where community members discuss key community issues and collectively problem-solve and decide how to address them. The NYC Public Library Action Network (NYC PLAN) invites New Yorkers to join us on May 17 to discuss library funding and to share our visions for our local libraries.

Come spend an afternoon in conversation with library patrons, library workers, and others from across NYC to discuss what increased funding of NYC public libraries would achieve for our communities.

We will provide snacks from 1 to 1:30 pm if you want to arrive earlier.

The PA will kick off with a short teach-in about who funds NYC libraries, followed by a short panel discussion. The bulk of our time will feature small group discussion about our visions for our public libraries.

Admission is at no cost to participants. The People’s Assembly is being organized by volunteers and is community-funded. We have included donation tickets for those who would like to contribute to the costs of the assembly. Thank you.
